Half the battle when it comes to exercise is actually getting to the gym or that work-out class. Staying motivated isn’t easy, but keeping up with your fitness routine will pay off in the long run!

People who don’t work out or who have fell off the exercise bandwagon all have similar reasons for not sticking to an exercise routine. Here are the three most common (and super lame) reasons for not staying active.

  1. “I don’t have time to work-out.”

We get it, there really isn’t enough time in the day. But, everyone is busy! People who use this excuse don’t value exercise enough to make time for it. If you struggle with this, you have to start making working out a priority. Create a schedule in advance or pre-sign up for your week’s work-out classes. This will keep you motivated!

  1. “I get too sore.”

If you are new to working out, you are going to be sore. But, this doesn’t mean you should give up! It will only get easier. If you stay consistent with your work-outs, your body will respond better. On the other hand, if you only go to the gym once in a while, you are most likely going to ache. That soreness comes from when your muscles are doing something new.

  1. “Working out overwhelms me.”

There are so many different work-out programs, types of gyms, trainers, fitness classes out there, so we understand that it can get confusing. When you are first working out, there will be a trial error period where you figure out what you like to do as your form of exercise. Most gyms offer a free training session. Pick the trainers brain during this session. Try all of the cardio machines at the gym. Try out a few classes. Usually your first class is free. If you dislike something, you don’t have to do it again. Keep in mind that you will only stick to a fitness routine if it is something you enjoy. And it is also okay if you only tolerate working out, as long as you love the feeling of accomplishment after it!

  1. “Gyms are too expensive.”

Exercise doesn’t only have to be done at the gym. You can be active outside with a walk or run which is completely free. But, gyms like Planet Fitness and YouFit cost only $10 a month. This is probably less than what you spent on lunch this week. Shop around and compare pricing at your local gyms and fitness studios. Brands like LA Fitness, may be more expensive than a YouFit, but often they hav more classes which are included in the membership.
